Borrum Energy Solutions is pleased to announce that it is collaborating with the University of Toronto and the University of British Columbia to bring their icing detection and de-icing technology to home-scale wind turbines.
The goal of the project is for Borrum Energy Solutions’ Anorra wind turbines to detect blade icing and remove it, ensuring reliable, continuous electricity generation. Icing on turbine blades alters their aeronautical characteristic and increases weight, leading to blade stalling.
Once integrated into the Borrum Energy Solution wind turbine, this Canadian technology will enable the Anorra wind turbine to be deployed in regions with prominent icing, such as Arctic and subarctic regions, as well as northern sections of the east and west coasts.
